Revitalizing Jerome Headstart

David Wenzlick

At Gross Construction, we recently completed a comprehensive exterior renovation at Jerome Headstart in Saginaw, aimed at enhancing the school's infrastructure and safety for its young attendees.

The project kicked off with the demolition of the existing asphalt parking lot, along with the removal of old curbs, gutters, and concrete paving. We also took out old underground structures that were no longer fit for purpose, clearing the way for a thorough site upgrade.

We installed a new storm sewer system and catch basins, along with a new sanitary line. Additionally, part of our work involved repairing and patching the adjacent city road and curb.

Our team stripped the topsoil and balanced the area to prepare for a new parking lot. This phase was critical in ensuring a level and stable foundation for all subsequent installations.

For the parking lot and sidewalks, we prepared the base using limestone, known for its durability and load-bearing properties, ensuring a long-lasting surface for the high traffic expected in these areas.

Another aspect of our project was installing a new base for the playground, including proper edging.
